Grades And Classes Of Individual Membership

Professional Class in the streams of Quality, SHEQ and Standardisation Grades

Professional – candidate that achieves over 400 assessment points

Candidate – candidate short of the 400 assessment points and is given three years to achieve the shortfall

Associate – Candidate achieves 400 assessment points but is no longer a practitioner

Why Become a Professional Member?

SASQ aims to provide annual Conferences, workshops and lectures showcasing relevant topics from Industry Leaders.

SASQ members are awarded CPD points for attending the various events

Professional Members will benefit from reduced member rates when registering for these events

Quality Practitioners who contribute positively to the developement of Quality within Industry are afforded the opportunity to share their achievements by submitting papers for publication on the website alternatively becoming part of an event programme.

Institutions expect professionals to become members of relevant professional bodies; SASQ is a professional body that meets this need.

As a Professional Quality Practitioner being part of SASQ shows your committment to strengthing Quality throughout Industy.

Application Process And Fees

Once the electronic application has been submitted an invoice will be generated for a R500 non-refundable application fee together with bank details and this will need to be paid in order for the application process to proceed.

Once the application has been successfully approved the applicant will be notified and further invoicing for annual membership fee of R2000.00 will be generated.

Assessment Criteria And Minimum Requirements

Quality Practitioner

A total of 400 points will have to be achieved for the grade of professional member in any of the six categories listed in section (A) below; a candidate grade will be awarded when this score is not achieved. Candidate members can apply for reassessment once the score of 400 is achieved within a period of three years.

Non-practicing professionals who obtain 400 points will be awarded the Associate grade.

SHEQ Practitioner

Standardisation Practitioner

SECTION A

Category 1: Years of experience

For each year of service as a quality practitioner 40 points per year.

Category 2: Qualifications – Academic

Highest level of related academic qualification give 200 points

Examples: Doctorate level, Masters Level, Honors Level, BTECH level, diploma level,

Any university short learning program which has a minimum of 6 months duration and formal university assessment.

Category 3: Qualifications – Non Academic

Any related qualification/ workshop less than three months give 50 points (maximum of two)

Category 4: Skills

Any written up project that you were involved in as a leader. A copy of the report with validation must be submitted with the application. Give 50 points each (maximum two)

Category 5: Any conference presentations, or articles published articles with evidence, give 50 points each (maximum of two)

Category 6: Any SASQ CPD attendance in previous three years (certificate must be provided), points as on the certificate.

Category 2: Qualifications – Academic

Highest level of related academic qualification give 200 points

Examples: Doctorate level, Masters Level, Honors Level, BTECH level, diploma level,

Any university short learning program which has a minimum of 6 months duration and formal university assessment.

Category 3: Qualifications – Non Academic

Any related qualification/ workshop less than three months give 50 points (maximum of two, at least one must be in environmental or health and safety management)

Category 4: Skills

Any written up project that you were involved in as a leader. A copy of the report with validation must be submitted with the application. Give 50 points each (maximum two)

Category 5: Any conference presentations, or articles published articles with evidence, give 50 points each (maximum of two)

Category 6: Any SASQ CPD attendance in previous three years (certificate must be provided), points as on the certificate.

SECTION C

 Professional – Obtaining the UNISA SBL MDP in Standardisation for organisations (MPDSO) qualification.

Candidate – Candidates who are registered for UNISA SBL MDP in Standardisation for organisations (MDPSO) qualification and or partly obtained the qualification, and shall complete within a 2 year period.
